Uniform Expectations Letter – 11/4/22

UNIFORM POLICY ENFORCEMENT

This letter is to inform you that as of Monday, November 7, 2022, the uniform policy at Northside
Preparatory Academy will be strictly enforced. Wearing the school year uniform daily is NOT OPTIONAL BUT
REQUIRED.
A number of students come to school not meeting the uniform expectations. All families attending
Northside Preparatory Academy received a copy of the uniform attire expectations, which also outlined clothing,
footwear, headwear, outwear etc. that is prohibited for school. Students are required to wear “uniformed” styled
attire as outlined in the Northside Preparatory Academy Parent and Student Handbook.

As of Monday, November 7th students will not be allowed to wear pullovers or zipped hoodies, sweatshirts, coats,
jackets and other outwear while in school. These items can be worn to school but must be removed and stored
while in the classroom and throughout the school building. Students who fail to comply with the removal of said
items mentioned above will be disciplined accordingly as outlined in the Parent and Student Handbook.

I, along with the members of the Northside Preparatory Academy School Board, believe a safe and disciplined
learning environment is the first requirement of a high performing school. Wearing such items eliminates
opportunities for students to hide and conceal items that have no place in the school environment. Having a
school uniform policy/standard in place benefits the overall school culture and climate and promotes a welldressed look for the student body.

Below is a list of the required uniform items so your student(s) will not be in violation of the school uniform dress
code policy. All violations or refusal to follow the required uniform attire will result in disciplinary actions as
outlined in the uniform policy.

  1. All students must wear a solid-colored orange, green or gray polo style shirt (short or long sleeve) or the
NSP logo style polo. No other style or colored shirt is acceptable.
  2. All students must wear uniform style pants, skirt, or dress (khaki, black, or navy). No leggings, jeans,
denim, cargo style pants/shorts, sweatpants are acceptable
  3. All students must come to school dressed in the required uniform attire and colors Monday-Friday unless
otherwise notified by the school (special events, dress down day etc.)
  4. All students are permitted to wear dress style shoes, gym shoes, or boots during winter months.
Footwear must be of solid colors (white, black, blue, brown) as outlined in the uniform policy. No lightup, glitter, fur, krocs, slip-on’s, slide-in’s style shoes are permitted. All shoes must protect the entire foot.
  5. Only solid colored white, gray, navy, black, or beige knitted cardigans or knitted pullover sweaters are
    permitted.

Parents, we need your support to ensure that your student(s) will meet the daily requirements of the uniform
dress code and policy. Making a choice to attend Northside Preparatory Academy, the student (with parent
support) agrees to follow the uniform requirements.

If you have any concerns, feel free to contact me directly.

Regards In Education,
Ms. Clark
