About our school

northsideprepacademy.org school introduction

Northside Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades K through 8 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ohio grades every school using a Performance Index, and this year Northside jumped 27% in a single year, from a PI of 50.6 to 64.3. That's the largest one-year gain for any Deep Urban Cincinnati school in this network. For parents who've been told to give a school time to improve, that number says the improvement is already here.

Northside is built around whole-child college prep. That means your child’s academic growth and preparation for high school and beyond aren’t treated as separate goals. The prep is the instruction. Teachers know where your child actually is, not just where the grade-level standard says they should be. The state gave Northside 4 Stars for Progress, which means students here are making more than a year’s worth of growth per year on average. Your child moves forward. That’s the point.

Technology is part of how that happens. Students at Northside work with tools that let teachers see exactly where each child is and respond in real time, not at the next parent conference. The K–8 model means the school has years to build strong academic foundations, not just get kids through one grade level at a time.

It’s a publicly funded school. There’s no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.
